I went on my first horse lesson today at 3pm in huntington beach. I got to groom and brush the horse that I rode and was learning the riding basics. It was a dream come true and pretty damn awesome for me. Reading books on horses and horse care is like learning to swim on land. So getting on an actual horse to ride and learning how to work with a horse and care for it's basic needs was so cool!
The last time I was on a horse ride was in Yosemite when I was 14 years old, where we went on a hiking trail with the horse Yosemite owned for the tourists and visitors to ride.
Today I was told that i did good for my first lesson. I was told don't buy steel toes boots around a horse because if the horse steps on or kicks your shoes the metal could decapitate your toes off. I need to not wear sneakers next time but buy a pair of boots at the Payless shoe stores or Target. Other than the need for horse riding safe boots, I should be all set for taking more lessons. I liked the staff I worked with who were teaching me how to ride and they were kind and patient and very understanding of a new rider.
If I do well with these lessons on grooming, horse care and riding horses I will be well on my way to being very well prepared for owning my firsts miniature horse after I make my first years salary as an art teacher.
Considering that I had a really bad day yesterday, today was excellent, in fact I wish all days could be as nice, fun, and happy for me as today was!
