i know that I'm bad. I can't ever make a profit if as soon as I sell off one of my things that I am willing to part with and get rid of, that I go out and buy something new with that money at the library used book store or something someone is selling off on craigslist. I know it's stupid but I like both selling and bargain hunting for excellent deals. If I made lets say $20 dollars on items on craigslist and I then go out and buy someone else's 1980's toys or comic book collection on craigslist with that money, then I never turn a profit because i just turned my earnings into a new investment. I have my eye on purchasing more Teddy Ruxpins off people on craigslist, I have my eye on people who are selling their underground 1960's to 1970's adult raunchy hippie comics collection off on craigslist. I also want to purchase 3 new complete skateboard decks from Santa Cruz skateboards as both things to ride and cool collectibles! They now have Simpsons skateboards from the famous skateboard company Santa Cruz. They also have a beautiful longboard skateboard shaped like a big blue screaming foot with large toes! I already own a nice skateboard that works great and I don't "need" another 3 skateboards but i "want" them. Get it? I want to save enough money to get a hotel room and bus to Vegas this winter break. I also want to save enough for a plane flight roundtrip to visit my friend who lives in Oakland during winter break. I want to have money to go on dates if I can find a girl I like who likes me back! I want to have spare money for if my cat gets really sick and needs to get help at the vet! I want to have money saved up to buy my dream designer cats and dream miniature horse a year and a half from now when I'm finished with my teaching credential and can hopefully find work as a high school art teacher right away! The dream cats would cost between 1 thousand to 2 thousand each to own. The dream miniature horse would cost between 2 thousand to 6 thousand to own and she would need to be transported to California from an out of state ranch and that could be a thousand or 2 thousand dollars just to get the mini horse delivery in my posession in California! I would then need to pay for the vet bills for my new cats and mini horse and a place for the horse to be boarded at to live if I don't have the money for my own ranch and horse barn property!
I think my days of bargaining on craigslist and collecting art books, non fiction, and comic books might be numbered if I have to pay for expensive pets, a property to live and maintain, a car, a girlfriend or a wife, and one day later on adopted kids! Right now as a small time single guy on the move I can play with my seed money I get from selling stuff I no longer want or feel I need and spend that money on more books, skateboards, or Teddy Ruxpin talking robot toys. But come a year and a half from now if things start going my way with employment as a teacher, i will quickly need to be more conservative with my spending and shopping and if I have a girlfriend prove to her I'm not a slob or flake when it comes to being a smart adult about my money and savings! Or I won't have a girlfriend for very long if I spend my money to easily on things to invest in and try to resell or collecting just for myself! The last thing I want to hear from a woman I'm in love with is that the "stores closed"(no sex indefinitely) because I spend my money like a child who can't control himself!
One day I need to learn how to "save" my money for things I will need in the future. I'm not sure "saving" my money for more "bigger" investments like original artwork or buying a robot by a famous robot designer is wise. I know it would be fun and a huge thrill and a blast for me to buy big ticket purchases like original artwork and working robots! But I would rather have a wife and kids and miniature horse and house full of exotic designer cats than a few paintings and sculptures and a few animatronic robots sitting around!
